Ireland is an experience: it’s a young, lively and dynamic country with a growing economy. It’s a country of music, of tradition and of culture. It’s a place to talk, make new friends and to relax. But, perhaps most noted on by visitors is the beautiful, unspoiled scenery of the mountains, countryside, coastline and islands which co-exist with the cosmopolitan and vibrant towns and cities across the island.
The modern and the traditional meet in many ways. Education is just one example. The Irish have a long established reputation for their interest in learning and teaching from the monasteries of the middle ages right up to today. These traditions in education have brought the country into close contact with the world as the Irish have travelled to work, learn, teach and live in other places. This has helped the Irish establish an extended family across the world and given the inhabitants of the island a global perspective.
Today Ireland welcomes people from all around the world who come to visit, live and learn, to experience the sense of ‘fáilte’ (the gaelic word for ‘welcome’) that is warmly offered and which helps visitors and students alike to settle in and feel right at home.
