News - Brazilian Carnival

Everybody knows about the famous Brazilian carnival mostly for its spectacular show which takes place in Rio de Janeiro every year. Why not celebrate it in Galway too? Atlantic Language Galway organised a ‘Mardi Gras’ full of energy and colours with the help of our joyful and warm Brazilian students. They prepared beautiful decorations and hand-made masks as well as carefully designed green and yellow t-shirts saying ‘CarnaGalway 2010’.  The event took place in Bar no.8 in Galway city last Monday 15th February and it was a real success. The night included live music performed by our students Carlos and Wesley, traditional Brazilian martial art/dance ‘Capoeira’ with  local group ‘Candeias’ and samba dancing introduced by some of our energetic students. Our student Marcelo also prepared some yummy typical Brazilian cocktail ‘caipirinha’ which quenched the thirst of many students and Galwegians who danced to the party tunes of dj Jobson. Also some lovely snacks, ‘pao de queijo’ were served on the night. Obrigados!
