Effective Strategies for Teachers of Migrants

Effective Strategies for Teachers of Migrants

Our newly designed course provides a professional development opportunity for teachers and mentors of students from refugee backgrounds who may have experienced trauma, conflict, displacement or loss.

Course participants gain insight into new approaches for planning, managing, and delivering lessons to learners who struggle to integrate into a traditional classroom environment.

During the first week, participants focus on the unique challenges migrant teachers encounter, identifying ways to overcome them. In week 2, they experience incorporating mindfulness to create a calming environment for learners and educators.

Through workshops, group tasks, and knowledge-sharing activities, we look at how these tools can help create lessons for a diverse range of learners. The opportunity to experience new cultural contexts and network with international colleagues is an added positive outcome.
