Erasmus+ Staff Mobility – The Participant Experience
With higher education staff travelling across the world to attend Erasmus+ courses at Atlantic, we’ve put together a post of student feedback to give you a true insight into Erasmus+ Staff Mobility and the student experience here. The course participants hold various job positions in higher education institutions dotted around Europe and beyond. The reviews and comments help us continually refine our programmes while furnishing you with a deep dive into Erasmus+ Staff Mobility at Atlantic.
Our varied Erasmus+ programmes draw academics, teachers, and higher education staff from far-flung locations, joining with individual objectives in mind. Some prioritise career development while others seek to gain new competencies. And some choose Galway over Dublin because they want to breathe in the wild Atlantic air. Let’s hear some feedback.
Desponia Dokianaki is a Biology Lecturer at the Univesity of Crete in Greece. She participated in our Social and Emotional Learning course. Here is what she had to say:
I liked the flexibility of this course and learend a lot but also enjoyed myself. It was enjoyable but also educative. A very interesting course presented by an excellent teacher.
Joining her on the Social and Emotional Learning course was Katarzyna Nowarkowska, Lecturer at the University of Warsaw. Stressing that she would recommend the course, she added:
I am very satisfied. I have learned many things, how to work with my students at uni. The atmosphere was very, very friendly. I felt very well and will recommend the course for sure!
Adrienn Mekcedesz Vekes, Assistant Lecturer at the University of Veterinary Medicine in Budapest, took part in the Social and Emotional Learning course, too. In her feedback, she focused on the teaching quality at Atlantic:
Our teacher Purva was amazing, guiding use through the different aspects of SEL, connecting us and giving us all the information and practical tools we can start implementing SEL. I would go for more.
From Réunion, a tiny island in the Indian Ocean, Jemina Gronding partook. She joined two courses at Atlantic, Learning Through Music and Creating Green Classrooms.
Erasmus+ Staff Mobility Experience – English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI)
Our EMI programme brings together higher education staff, not only from different countries but also from different fields and faculties. Participants join to hone their English communication and presentation skills, meet European peers, and further their careers.
One such participant was Iva Struzkova, English Lecturer at Charles University, Faculty of Social Sciences in Prague:
Definitely, it was a mind blowing experience. Even though I knew some fo the theories and had previously done some of the activities covered in this course I still gained a lot of useful information and tips. Moreover, our excellent teacher was able to cater to various students in an elegant and efficient manner. Secondly, I could notice my English improving day by day. Overall, the course and the teacher (Dee Maher) really exceeded my expectations.
Michaela Gloverova, Lecturer, joined the English as a Medium of Instruction programme from Charles University in Prague. Here are her thoughts:
Very professional, well-strctured, full of interesting materials, topics, and ideas. Thoughtfully managed and very flexible, adjusting the course to our specific needs. Highly recommended. Thank you.
And to round off our feedback post, here is a cross-section.
