Job Description

1. Experience, Knowledge and Qualifications

2. Teaching, Student Focus and Communication

  • Plan, prepare and deliver lessons in accordance with specified syllabi and standards
  • Create and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Manage the classroom space effectively
  • Provide constructive feedback to students through error correction
  • Complete required documentation detailing materials used in lessons
  • Maintain and file class records, leaving all documentation related to lesson on site
  • Record student attendance on a daily basis and report unexplained absences to Academic office (adults after 3 days and juniors immediately)
  • Monitor student progress with weekly tests and provide feedback on students to Academic Office on an ongoing basis or as specifically required
  • Respond to and assist with student queries, providing them with support or assistance when required

3. CPD and Professionalism

  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Maintain a professional attitude towards colleagues, students and visitors at all times
  • Participate in teaching observations and employee appraisal system
  • Attend and participate weekly staff meetings
  • Complete a minimum of 3 recognised professional development activities/sessions per year
  • Disseminate knowledge developed through external training sessions/courses
  • Maintain a well-organised and tidy workspace in the teacher’s room

4. Teamwork

  • Possess strong interpersonal and cooperative skills
  • Engage with teaching colleagues to promote the sharing and dissemination of ideas and resources
  • Be flexible, proactive and communicative in approach to teaching and working
  • Contribute to a culture of collaboration by sharing ideas, resources and facilitating observations
